The prolonged Palestinian-Israeli war has reignited after Israel was attacked by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Israeli airstrikes targeting the Gaza Strip.
It all started on 10th May 2021 When Israel was attacked with rockets from the Gaza Strip by two palestinian militant groups, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas.
This was after Israel ignored an ultimatum to withdraw security forces from the Temple Mount complex and Sheikh Jarrah despite several protests by the Palestinians.
The two militant groups began firing rockets into Israel from the Gaza Strip, hitting multiple residences and a school. Israel as usual began a campaign of airstrikes against Gaza.
By 16th May, 2021, there have been about 950 targeted attacks which destroyed about 18 buildings including four high-rise towers, 40 schools and four hospitals, and also struck the al-Shati refugee camp.
Also, at least 19 medical facilities have been damaged or destroyed by Israeli bombardment.
Per the estimation by the United Nations, Israel had demolished 94 buildings in Gaza, comprising 461 housing and commercial units.
Why Yahweh is blamed for this
Remember Yahweh, the famous God of the Israelites?According to the Holy Bible of the Christians, Yahweh promised the descendants of Abraham( Isaac &Jacob) a particular piece of land which is filled with milk and honey. The descendants of Jacob after his name was changed from Jacob to Israel became known as the Israelites.
Yahweh first made this promise about the Promised Land to Abraham in Genesis 15:18-21.
“On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates— the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.” It reads.
Yahweh assured Abraham’s son, Isaac of the Promised Land in Genesis 26:3.
“Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham”. It reads.
He again assured Jacob, son of Isaac of the promise He made to his fathers.
“There above it stood the Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.” [Genesis 28: 13].
Historians, mediators and other stakeholders in resolving this conflict blame Yahweh because according to them, Yahweh knew that that place was already occupied yet He decided to give it to His people.
“To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates— the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.” He told Abraham.
The argument is that if Yahweh hadn’t given this piece of land to the Israelites, knowing fully well the said land belongs a people, there wouldn’t be any confrontations in the first place let alone wars in the Palestinian-Israeli region.
Geographically, the Holy Bible defines the said Promised Land to be from the River of Egypt to the Euphrates river (Exodus 23:31); the exact location the State, Israel is today.
When the rise and the call of statehood and the move away from divine kingship in Europe heightened the Jews were left “homeless”.
In the tail end of the Era of Enlightenment (1685-1815), a lot of kingdoms and people who spoke same languages or came from one ancestry began to merge to form what became known as States such as Gernany, France and Australia.
The Jews in those countries were then seen as foreigners, a people without a land, a place or country.
They were ever since faced with lots of harsh treatments, dejections and persecutions.
In fact, they were blamed for the economic hardship in Adolf Hitler’s Germany and accordingly persecuted.
These and many other factors led to the rise of Zionism where there was a call for all Jews to return to the “Home Land”.
The Jews argued that Yahweh promised them a land hence the need to also go “home” and form a Jewish state.
After several battles and clashes with original inhabitants, the Palestinians, a Jewish state was finally formed in 1948. This was the beginning of the prolonged war between the Israelites and the Palestinians.
Why Palestinians can’t let go
The Palestinians who are Muslims believe the same place is their Holy Land in the sense that Allah promised that land to the first son of Abraham, Ismael.
The Palestinians actually claim ancestry to Ismael who they regard as the first son of Abraham.
They also believe that Prophet Mohammed passed through Jerusalem when he was going to heaven.
These arguments are quite controversial; whiles the Christians and Jews will argue that Yahweh has the ultimate authority and could decide who lives where or not, the Palestinians will feel every entitlement to fight for their rights.
