The UEFA Champions League will serve football spectators all the world with 2 entertaining matches tonight, 6th April, 2021.

Spanish giant and 13-time champions of the competition, Real Madrid will be hosting 2019 winners and current EPL title holders, Liverpool at the Estadio Alfredo Stefano for the first leg of their quarter-final matches.

Current league leaders of the English Premier League and fans’ favourite to win the competition, Manchester City will also be hosting a struggling Halaand-led Dortmund at the Etihad at the same time.

Both matches will be played at 7pm Ghana time and promise to be very entertaining encounters.

Hours to the match, we take a look at the match between Madrid and Liverpool, their respective strengths and weaknesses and possible winners.

The last clash between Real Madrid and Liverpool ended 3:1 in favour of Real Madrid in a Champions League finals that saw Real Madrid lift their 3rd conservative title under Zinedine Zidane.

Liverpool have lost their last 3 Champions League matches against Real Madrid.

Madrid on the other hand has won eight out of nine first leg matches at the knockout stages.

Liverpool however has something to keep their hopes high going into this match; in their last knockout stage clash in the 2008-09 season, Liverpool has managed an aggregate win of 5-0 over Real Madrid.

Key Players missing

Madrid is sweating over the fitness of their captain, Sergio Ramos. Ramos will be missing in the first leg of this encounter.

Liverpool, like Madrid will also be disturbed over the absence of their best Center-Back, Virgil Van Dijk.

Firmino who has been on injury for sometime now is back just that he is not completely fit.

Who wins?

Looking at things, Real Madrid will be looking to make this game a midfield battle so they could control the pace of the game. By so doing they will neutralize the havoc Salah and Mane might Unleash on them with their pace.

Liverpool however will be going into the match with a counter-attack and “effective use of fullbacks” approach.

Liverpool’s defence is as bad as Real Madrid’s attack.

In all, it will be a very tricky encounter this evening but Madrid has slight urge over Liverpool. A win or draw for Real Madrid and a score margin of 1 or 2 shouldn’t be surprising.
