Africa’s most decorated Dancehall artist, Mr. Charles Nii Armah Mensah Junior who goes with the stage name “Shatta Wale” has won his seventh IRAWMA.
His novelty, the “Faith Concert”, a virtual concert won him the “Best Visual Entertainer” category at this year’s edition.
This means that he has successfully become the African Artist with most awards from the scheme after raising his tally to six.
Shatta Wale won his first ever IRAWMA in 2014 when he was adjudged the Best New Entertainer.
He continued to grab another in 2016 where his song “Chop Kiss” earned him the “Best African Song” category.
Two years later, he once again won but this time honoured for his outstanding contributions to Reggae in and the world at large.
His last award from the most prestigious Reggae/Dancehall award scheme before yesterday was the “Afrobeat Entertainer“.
He won on that same day the “Best Music Video” where his viral “Gringo” music video was adjudged the best in the world.
The International Reggae And World Music Awards (IRAWMA) is the most prestigious and the best recognized Reggae/Dancehall award scheme in the world.
Even though Reggae is the main focus, it celebrates other genres and even other forms of entertainment including comedy.
This year’s edition was held virtually because of the restrictions and bans on social gathering.
It was hosted by Reggae icon, Gramps Morgan and D’Angel.
