Nana Addo Appoints 8 Women For Various Ministerial Positions – Women Groups Ask For More

President Nana Akuffo Addo has appointed his Ministers waiting their approval by the vetting committee of Parliament.

Out of the 46 appointees, only 8 are women.

They include 6 ministers and 2 regional ministers.

Some notable names include Hon.Hawa Koomson, Hon. Cecilia Abena Daapah and Sarah Adwoah Sarfo.

Hon. Hawa Koomson, member of Parliament for Owutu- Senya East has been designated for Fisheries and Agriculture Development Ministry.

Hon. Cecelia Abena Daapah takes the Sanitation and Water Resources Ministry.

And Sarah Adwoa Sarfo who has been appointed for the Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry

This is laudable but the proportion of the male to female Ministers is very poor.

It is based on this that some women groups, even though recognizing the president’s efforts in bridging the gap between the two genders, ask for more.

One of such advocates, Oheneyere Naana Dansoa is earnestly pleading with the president to add more women appointees.
