President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo gave his 21st address/ updates on Covid-19 pandemic.
It is the first in 2021 and the focus was on Education.
The president asked that all schools be reopened in January.
According him, upon a broad consultation with stakeholders, he and his government have concluded that it is safe for students to return to school.
Basic schools will reopened from 15th January, Secondary schools on 18th January whiles Tertiary students will go back on 9th January.
One information that got heads turning however is that there is going to be an end to the double track system.
This decision was taken, as explained by the president, as a result of the expansion of infrastructure that went on in the secondary schools in the last 3 years.
Ghana is about to see double track end, our second year students who are on it will maintain it where necessary but there’s no double track for form one and two.
One major challenge and criticism against the Free Senior High School Education program has been the the double track system.
Indeed, this is a welcoming news.
