Don’t Fall for Awards, just do the Music, Muguees Advices Artists

Rashid Mugueez is  better known as one half of Ghanaian hip-hop outfit R2Bees, whom he formed with cousin Faisal Hakeem (aka Omar Sterling).

Mugueez and his cousin, formed R2Bees way back in 2007, they first released their first album in 2009, “Da Revolution”. The pair were nominated for Best International Act at the 2013 BET Awards. Various R2Bees singles appeared over the next few years while Mugeez also struck out on his own, guesting on singles by the likes of Criss Waddle, Mr. Eazi, and DJ Breezy. 2017 year saw him guesting on Fuse ODG’s single “Boa Me,” alongside Ed Sheeran.

Muguees(R2Bees) have won many awards to themselves and looking around what ‘some’ upcoming artist and colleagues are doing in the industry because of awards, he finds it embarrassing and had this to say:

Mankind No come into this life for Music awards.. that ish is funny as hell… don’t attach urself to it.. just do da music….. it’s embarrassing Charley

The ace vocalist advised his fellow artistes to have extreme focus for doing music. Muguees lamented on how engrossed some artist have become with music awards. He said it is embarrassing to see his colleagues focus much courtesy on awards reasonably than doing music.

According to him, if you are musician, your main concentration should be the music you do. Focusing ultimately on awards, is funny as hell.

He advices; as a musician determining to win an awards should not be the definite purpose for doing music.
