The London based football club, Arsenal Football Club nicknamed “the Gunners” are set to be taken over by famous Nigerian billionaire, Aliko Dangote.
The billionaire who is an Arsenal fan himself declared his interest in buying the pride of North London in 2015.
He reconfirmed his interest to buy the club in 2020 but he would wait till he finished a project he will be completing in 2020.
“It is a team that yes I would like to buy some day, but what I keep saying is we have $20billion worth of projects and that’s what I really want to concentrate on. I’m trying to finish building the company and then after we finish, maybe some time in 2021 we can.
“I’m not buying Arsenal right now, I’m buying Arsenal when I finish all these projects, because I’m trying to take the company to the next level.
Aliko Dangote said in 2020.
As reported by the Africa Report, one of such projects the billionaire is waiting to complete planning before the arsenal takeover is a refinery in Nigeria which is reported to have neared completion.
This means that the Nigeria could be getting ready to talking to the Kroeke family, current owners of the club over a possible takeover.
